![]() "Pay attention to your ship, Solo," Vader ordered, and Leia ground her teeth. Luke was at her back in an instant, both of them ignoring Han's, "Is someone dragging Threepio around?"Ĭhewie noticed their undesirable guest first, but Han quickly caught the sound of Vader's respirator and the ship jerked under his hands. Fist clenched and lips pressed into a painful line to hold back a childish scream (she wouldn’t scream for him again), Leia followed, ignoring her heart’s frantic pounding. Rather than sitting down in the galley like a normal, sane passenger would, Vader started making his way towards the cockpit, moving close to Leia again. "Since when do you-“Ĭhewie's growl cut off the complaint, and seconds later they were airborne, gliding through the sky and aiming to leave the atmosphere. ![]() "Solo? Solo?" Han repeated back in disbelief. She shifted sideways and half shuffled out of his reach to yell to Han, "Let's go, Solo!" This had the doubly negative effect of putting Vader right next to Leia as he boarded. Vader, on the other hand, appeared to be limping, and while Luke didn’t move to support Vader, he also didn't take his last foot off the ground until Vader was all the way up the ramp. Artoo, who had been lingering by their…captive?…made it on quickly enough, beeping as he went. But Han was shouting something back again and they had limited time to get off planet and she couldn't keep stalling, and Luke wasn't leaving without him… He seemed to realize even as he said the words that he couldn't mean them. "Trust me," Luke said quickly, stepping forward, hands out. If the darkness around him was a weapon, it was one Leia wished she could wield. "And why should I," she sneered, "trust you?" "I have promised not to harm any of his friends," Vader rumbled, and Leia's gaze went back to him, her breath struggling to stay even. When all that warmth and certainty overwrote her brain and made her believe in him. "Leia, please," he repeated, and there was hope in his eyes, and dammit she could never tell him no when he looked at her like that. That memory was pain, destruction, and loathing. Leia remembered being touched by that darkness, poked and prodded in the deepest, darkest corners of her own mind. There was a menacing darkness that shifted around Vader as she said the words, making her recoil. Something in her brain finally connected and Leia growled, "You what?" "We've gotta get out of here quick, and I promised he could come with me." "Leia, please," Luke repeated, glancing back nervously. Leia noticed it, registered that it was happening. "Almost," Luke called back, and from Han there was a muffled, "What?" ![]() ![]() "Kid, you on?" Han shouted from the cockpit. Her gaze kept drifting behind Luke to the dark form that loomed there, sheepishly-sulkily?-swaying a little.
